Welcome, Julius! Julius will be in our lab for a few weeks to conduct an exciting CRISPR screen together with Phuc. Julius is a PhD student in the Penengo lab, part of the RepliFate network that our lab also participates in.

Time for an update! A lot has happened in the last year:

  • We had to say goodbye to Anne Schreuder and Bas Molenaar as they embarked on new adventures.

  • Mariana went back to Brazil to finish her PhD

  • We had a nice grant accepted and a new postdoc will join our lab soon

  • Anne and Timo wrote a great review on the relevance of BRCA1’s function in the prevention of ssDNA gaps

  • Anne’s paper on CRISPR screens in BRCA1 hypomorphic cell lines is on BioRXiV

Marta worked with us for four years, but now has come the time to say goodbye. We will miss Marta and her enormous energy a lot! We experienced her energy once more during the goodbye activity we did, all sore, but so much fun!

New PhD student Phuc joined our lab today as port of the EU doctoral network Replifate. We’re looking forward to all the great discoveries she’ll make on studying EXO1 in normal physiology. Welcome, Phuc!

Welcome, Mariana! All the way from Brazil, Mariana will spend one year in the lab working on her PhD project that she started in the lab of Fernando Simabuco. We are happy to contribute to her exciting research!

We welcome Roos to the group as our new technician. We’re looking forward to do great science together and hope Roos can keep our lab running smoothly.
